Elegant Bachelor is the psuedonym under which, I, Shazanah Hassan, create music. I make music almost entirely with my computer and aim to distribute it entirely through the computer. As such, all my music is available on here for free! Enjoy these little songs and share them with anyone!
History of Elegant Bachelor
Elegant Bachelor was formed in 2003 out of equal parts anger and boredom. The anger stemming from myself being thought of as an accessory to the band that I was in then (Hearing Hill) due to my gender and also people not taking me seriously as a gentleman (also due to my gender). The boredom was from having nothing to do in the middle of the night except play guitar on my own. Later on, the music evolved to become purely electronic. Elegant Bachelor was also a duo with Bruce Quek for a period of time (under the name Elegant Bachelor & Saucy Wench) but now has become a solo act again. Elegant Bachelor was also known as Ducky Star for a period of time but has now reverted to its original name. One day I hope to reconcile these two parts of my personality.
The driving force behind Elegant Bachelor nowadays is much less anger, a lot more boredom and a love for music, tinkering with things and information freedom.
Elegant Bachelor has performed in such venues as The Substation, The Esplanade Waterfront, The Arts House, The Annexe (Kuala Lumpur), Gashaus, Home Club & Hideout.
